the menorah

The menorah is one of the oldest symbols within the jewish faith. The seven branched candelabrum is representative of the Spirits of God which is seven.

Rev 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and [there were] seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

The seven branched candelabrum was placed in the Temple and the Kohanim were responsible for lighting the menorah every evening. They were responsible for cleaning it every morning and replacing the wicks and filling the cups with fresh oil.

Exd 25:32 And six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side:

Exd 25:33 Three bowls made like unto almonds, [with] a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, [with] a knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the candlestick.

Exd 25:34 And in the candlestick [shall be] four bowls made like unto almonds, [with] their knops and their flowers.

Exd 25:35 And [there shall be] a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches that proceed out of the candlestick.

Exd 25:36 Their knops and their branches shall be of the same: all it [shall be] one beaten work [of] pure gold.

Exd 25:37 And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it.

Exd 25:38 And the tongs thereof, and the snuffdishes thereof, [shall be of] pure gold.

Exd 25:39 [Of] a talent of pure gold shall he make it, with all these vessels.

Exd 25:40 And look that thou make [them] after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.

The menorah is a symbol unto the nation of Israel as a ‘light unto the nations’.

Isa 42:6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

It is by divine decree that Israel keep the menorah as a light unto the Gentiles, even as our High Priest, Jesus Christ of Nazareth holds the seven stars in His right hand. The seven stars represent the seven angels, each one of which are appointed to each of the seven churches as a light unto the Gentiles.

Rev 2:1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

Rev 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
